Transport is more evenly matched.

Scooter rentals can be similarly priced on both islands, while private-driver rates vary considerably depending on distance, itinerary and how you book.

But there's another factor worth considering: time.

Traffic congestion can be significant in parts of Bali, particularly around the heavily developed southern tourism areas. Lombok generally has much lighter traffic outside Mataram and a handful of busy locations.

An hour riding through open countryside and coastal roads is a very different travel experience from an hour sitting in heavy traffic.
