Visa-Free Entry

If you’re travelling from an ASEAN country, entering Indonesia is usually very straightforward. Citizens of several Southeast Asian countries can enter visa-free for up to 30 days, making Lombok an easy option for shorter trips, weekend escapes, or quick island holidays.

This option is ideal for travellers planning a shorter stay and does not require any application before arrival.

Common eligible countries include:

  • Singapore

  • Malaysia

  • Thailand

  • Vietnam

  • Philippines

  • Cambodia

  • Laos

  • Myanmar

  • Brunei

Before you arrive:

  • Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months

  • You may be asked to show proof of onward or return travel

  • This visa type cannot typically be extended once you arrive

Visa on Arrival (VoA)

For most international travellers visiting Lombok, Visa on Arrival (VoA) is the most common option.

This visa can either be arranged when you land in Indonesia or online before travel through Indonesia’s official e-VOA platform. For many visitors, it’s the easiest and most flexible way to enter the country.

Visa on Arrival is especially popular for travellers visiting Lombok for holidays, surf trips, or longer island stays of up to two months.

Visa on Arrival details:

  • Valid for 30 days

  • Extendable once for an additional 30 days

  • Total stay of up to 60 days

  • Cost: IDR 500,000

Common eligible countries include:

  • United States

  • United Kingdom

  • Canada

  • Australia

  • New Zealand

  • Japan

  • South Korea

  • Most European countries

You’ll typically need:

  • A passport valid for at least 6 months

  • Proof of onward or return travel

  • Proof of accommodation during your stay

Good to know: If you arrive in Bali first and continue on to Lombok afterwards, your Visa on Arrival still covers your travel within Indonesia.

e-VOA: Apply Before You Fly

If you’d prefer to arrive with everything arranged in advance, Indonesia also offers an Electronic Visa on Arrival, known as the e-VOA.

This lets eligible travellers complete the visa process online before departure, which can make arrival smoother, especially during busy travel periods.

Many travellers flying into Bali before continuing to Lombok choose this option to avoid airport queues.

How it works:

  1. Complete the online application

  2. Upload your passport details

  3. Pay online

  4. Download your approval confirmation

  5. Present it when you arrive in Indonesia

This option is especially popular with families, long-haul travellers, and anyone wanting a quicker airport arrival process.

Tourist e-Visa (B211A)

If you’re planning a longer stay in Lombok, the Tourist e-Visa (B211A) may be the better fit.

This visa is commonly used by long-term travellers staying in Indonesia beyond 60 days or those travelling slowly between Lombok, Bali, and other islands.

It’s especially popular with digital nomads, remote workers, and travellers planning an extended stay.

Tourist e-Visa details:

  • Valid for 60 days

  • Extendable up to 180 days

  • Usually arranged before arrival

  • Often requires assistance from a sponsor or visa agent

Important Things to Know Before You Arrive

Before travelling to Lombok, it’s always worth checking a few essentials before boarding your flight.

Before you travel:

  • You may be asked for proof of onward or return travel

  • Your visa dates should match the length of your stay

  • Keep accommodation details and travel confirmations saved and accessible

  • Check the latest immigration updates before flying, as policies can occasionally change

Important:

Overstaying a visa in Indonesia can result in daily fines, so it’s always worth double-checking your dates before you travel.
